One of my favourite new wedding trends right now is having DIY or self-serve cocktail stations. Not only is it a really fun addition to your reception or cocktail hour but it also keeps bartender costs down – and goodness knows you’re going to want to save a few bucks where ever you can 😉
There are a million and one ways that you can personalize your self-serve bar. Make cocktail specific bars like a mimosa bar by providing champagne and an array of fresh juices. Or maybe a dessert bar with liqueurs, cinnamon, chocolate shavings and whipped cream.
Provide bowls of fresh fruit as garnish at a sangria bar or encourage guests to get creative and even leave some fun suggestions for them – champagne with raspberries, vodka and soda with a watermelon slice, gin and tonic with cucumber and a dash of pepper (seriously, try it!).
And who says alcohol even has to be involved? If you’re having a dry wedding or just want to be more inclusive of all your guests, you could even do a self-serve drink station featuring homemade ice-teas, freshly squeezed juices or infused waters!
Another fun way to make things interactive is to leave colourful pens or markers with a blank recipe book and invite guests to share their favourite cocktail recipes.
